Daddy and Mommy went to my appointment today. Daddy and Mommy got to listen to my heart beat today. I wasn't too cooperative at first but I eventually settled down to give them a listen. Daddy eyes lit up and he grinned when he heard me "swimming around". Mommy isn't convinced that he knew what he was grinning at and reminded him that it was my heart beat. Daddy just grinned and grinned. I am developing nicely. I am pretty active right now and I am enjoying "swimming" all around.
Next appointment is September 22.

An Inspection of the Kingdom
The castle is spotless...the home study must be today (for those who wonder, the castle is always spotless; today it just has an extra sparkle). Daddy and Mommy don't have the results yet but I am sure it will be fine. The castle is a very fine castle. Harley is still hanging in there. She made it a point to let the inspectors know that (a) She has a large tumor on her face and needed pity; (b) Was a very friendly, well behaved puppy. Sebastian was tempted to introduce himself to the inspectors then thought better of it at the last second. Rufus, well Mommy had to extract Rufus from the corner of the closet after the inspectors left. One day Rufus will learn that Mommy would not let anyone eat him.
Mommy and daddy have to finish the home study on September 10 by meeting with the inspectors in their office. So far things look great and Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to my arrival.

Food, Fun and Family
Tonight my biological family (which includes four brothers and one sister who live at home with my biological parents) met with Daddy and Mommy. Everyone had a great time. Daddy and Mommy were very impressed with how well behaved my biological brothers and sister are and could tell that my biological parents are doing a great job raising them. My biological father's granddaughter was there too. Mommy got to hold her a lot and is looking forward to being able to hold me. Daddy held her too but Mommy thinks he needs some classes on how to properly care for a baby.
Before everyone got there Daddy tried to convince Mommy that the baby was 9 months old and commented on how small she was (he met her the day before). He said that she wasn't much bigger than my furry brother Rufus. Mommy seemed to think he was wrong because she remembered my biological parents talking about her before and her being younger. Daddy insisted she was nine months old. Mommy gave up questioning him on the matter. Upon later inquiry, Mommy was right to question Daddy because the baby was only nine weeks old. I am sure that I will teach Daddy all about babies.

Seeing is Believing
Mommy apparently learned her lesson last time and made it clear to Daddy that under no circumstances was he allowed to miss any more doctor's appointments. Both of my biological parents were there today too. My biological father and Daddy had a great time visiting with each other while my biological mother and Mommy were taking the appointment seriously. The doctor took another sonogram today and today no one could deny that I am definitely a Zachary Edward. Any doubting Thomas' out there could no longer deny that I am all boy.
I am developing really well. My biological mother is doing a great job taking care of me. Next appointment is August 31. In the mean time though, everyone is getting together on August 10.

If the Doc Says So and I Have a Name
Daddy called Mommy this morning and asked if she wanted him to go to the doctor's appointment with her. She said that he didn't need to because they were not suppose to find out until next month if I am an "Alicia Lynne" or a "Zachary Edward".
Well, both my biological parents were at the appointment today. Mommy instantly felt bad that she told Daddy he didn't need to come. My biological father was looking forward to seeing Daddy. Bad Mommy! In any event, the doctor was trying to listen to my heartbeat today but I wasn't being very cooperative. So he took a sonogram of me instead. As soon as the doctor said he could tell the sex, Mommy immediately knew that she was in BIG trouble! I AM A BOY!!! Yippie!!!! Mommy asked if we could just keep that secret until the next appointment and then act real surprised as if they didn't know. Mommy looked at the sonogram picture and figures the doctor is a professional and if he says I am a boy, I must be.
My biological father decided to call my Daddy from outside. He cracked me up, he was acting like he was some deadbeat debtor calling my Daddy. Mommy was afraid that Daddy was going to say something inappropriate but he didn't. Mommy then made my biological father tell Daddy that I was a boy. He didn't want to but then decided to go ahead and tell my Daddy that he was getting a son. Daddy thought he was joking at first. Afterall, my silly Mommy assured him that they wouldn't find out until August whether I was a boy or a girl. Daddy eventually came to realize that it was not joke. He is real excited about having me as a son (I don't blame him either, I am pretty amazing!)
Mommy came racing home to show Daddy the sonogram. He can't see how they could tell either but trusts that the doctor knows what he is saying. My cousin Jesse has been at my house for the summer. He thinks it is cool that I am a boy. He told my Mommy that he was going to teach me how to be a tough guy. I think Mommy and Daddy have other plans but aren't too worried about Jesse teaching me anything because he would only teach me cool guy sport stuff.
I officially have a name...Zachary Edward. My uncle Lenny loves initials, so he is already referring to me as "ZEV" (all of my initials). Auntie Lynne owes Mommy lunch because Mommy was right, I am a BOY! Hurray for boys!
Next appointment is August 3.

My First Photo Shoot
Mommy and Daddy went to my very first doctor's appointment today. Daddy waited in the wait room while Mommy went in with my biological mother. The doctor took a sonogram of me today. Mommy was excited to see me. She brought it out to the waiting room for my Daddy to look at while he waited. He was so excited to see the sonogram! Mommy had to turn it over to the proper side for Daddy. He was still excited even though he was looking at it the wrong way. I am developing nicely. My biological mother is taking real good care of me.
Next appointment is July 12.
Mommy, Auntie Lynne and Auntie Alicia fired Daddy from the naming committee because he was being silly. Mommy relented though because Daddy did an excellent job of picking out a name for me if I were a girl..."Alicia Lynne". Mommy and Daddy thought "Zachary Edward" would be a great name for me if I am a boy.
Auntie Lynne thinks I am a girl. Mommy thinks I am a boy. They have a lunch bet on it.
